Servicing Fire Extinguishers

It’s recommended for fire extinguishers to undergo basic servicing every year and a detailed inspection every five years. These examinations ensure each extinguisher, regardless of type, is both fit for use and effective. Fire extinguishers should be maintained throughout their lifetime by keeping them in good working order. You should replace your fire extinguishers every 10 years, with their maximum lifespan at around 20 years. UK fire safety regulations dictate that at least two fire extinguishers should be located on each story of a building, ensuring there are appropriate fire control measures put in place. This is something to keep in mind when moving to new premises, or opening accommodation to tenants.
